Our Approach to Organic and No Added Sulphite Wines

At GD Millésime, I offer a selection of organic and/or no added sulphite wines, overseen in close collaboration with producers. Various standards relating to wines from vineyards practising organic farming now enable winemakers to adopt more environmentally respectful approaches. However, this method carries certain risks and does not always guarantee superior quality. Sustainable viticulture, such as promoted by the Terra Vitis label, represents a significant step forward. My selection of organic wine sales favours wines subjected to very light filtration before bottling, maintaining microbiological balance within a biodiversity-focused approach.

Understanding Sulphites and Wine Quality

Sulphites occur naturally in wine or are added for their antioxidant and preservative properties. Wines labelled ‘natural’ with no added sulphites tend to be more vulnerable. It’s important to note that even organic wines may contain sulphites, albeit at reduced levels. The label ‘contains sulphites’ is mandatory above 10 mg/L. My organic wine selection includes wines where yeast activity produces only small amounts of SO₂, and are thus considered ‘no added sulphites’. My expertise and over 30 years of experience guide me in choosing these wines. I also offer events and tastings to explore these exceptional nectars.
